Anyway, I can't wait to catch up with him and congratulation to all who were involved in this project to put together such a great work. I know I haven't watched yet. But I can smell it already. It's going to be super great!

I recently received an email about confirming my first/last name to be displayed in the ending credit of "Code 8," but it was not clear if premieres already took place or not. I hope not. I didn't even know there is a Facebook page for those who signed up for premiere show to confirm which location we'd like to attend. I just joined the group today. Hope I wan't too late. It says
"Currently these are LA, Vancouver, Toronto, NYC, Miami, Dallas, Chicago, Australia, and London! At this point, movie premieres are expected to take place in December of 2018."
I know delay was already announced earlier and this page was created in April 2016. Hope the above is just outdated announcement.

I don't have any news about what's up with Sung. But I can share what I discussed with my friend this weekend over a hot pot and Karaoke. She has been my very good friend since before I came to know Sung. That's a fairy long time. She knows almost everything about what I've been through since I moved in Maryland in early 2000's. So, I'd better listen to her well when she shared her feedback about what I said.
She knows that I've been into Sung for 10+ years. But it's pretty obvious for everyone that Sung is an actor and I am just a fan. She was surprised when I said "Sung is my best friend." Well, I know, that's probably not accurate. And I wasn't offended when she denied my statement. And I did not argue with her about her feedback. But I also know that I don't have to give up on the idea that Sung and I are connected somehow.
What she explained to me is that "best friends" have to be someone you can text any time you want, and get a response in reasonable timing. Of course, these days, we have many way to send our "love" to any actor or some kind of celebrity. I can DM Sung somehow in such way that Sung will see my message. But that does not make me as his best friend.
I think of my other friends whom I haven't even contacted for more than 20 years. I still cherish all the memories I have with them and I am so sure that when we get together again someday, we treat each other as our best friends. Or at very least, I have a very good feeling about them and even though I have no idea about what happened to them since I last saw them in person and no way to contact them now, I will consider them as my friends.
I suppose what my friend wanted to remind me is that Sung is an actor. If I talk about him as my "friend," I look silly. I'm not a teenager any more.
Confirming if you are a friend of someone's or not could be tricky even among non-celebrity people. There is no official document to register a "friend." You can "friend" or "unfriend" someone via SNS like Facebook. But that does not mean much for many people. Just because the person accepted your "friend request" does not mean you are actually considered as a friend. Well, that's what it is. We don't have to feel good or bad about that.
To be honest, I'm very bad at remembering people's name. For me, Facebook is a saver of my memory-challenge. So, if the person really think I'm his or her friend is not that important. Also, someone I know block me somehow, I don't really care. If we start thinking about it, it could go anywhere. Well, typically, I get "accepted" when I send a friend request. But how much is being actually shared is unknown.
Actually, this discussion was not only about Sung and me. I also talked about other "friends" who may not be actually friends. I seem to have a lot of imaginary friends. Well, they are real. But they ma not consider me as their friends. It's true that I don't "hang out" with them very often or almost not at all.
There are people who still ask me about a "house-warming party," that I once mentioned when I moved in my current house. That is already almost 5 years ago. But it never happened for some reasons. But I'm thinking... perhaps, I finally throw the party sometime this year, so I can see how many people actually show up. In worst case, I can extend my invitation to our neighbors to scavenge left-over foods.
I saw someone was lucky enough to bump into Sung yesterday in Hollywood. But they are wrong about Han RIP in 2 fast 2 furious. But I guess that's not important here.
What important here to me is that we can check out Sung's latest look.
By the way, looks like Code 8 project is finally wrapping up. That's great. But one last thing I want to find out is that they schedule premiere in NYC on the day that I cannot make it. That will be totally sucks because I've been waiting for that since a few years back. I know there will be a few other places for premiere. Hope they let me pick whichever day works with me, if my first choice, NYC, does not work out with me. I booked my flight to Japan in April. So, hope that is not going to be the time they do premieres in various cities.
If I don't get to see Sung in person, I'll be very sad. T_T
We had a great December 2018 because we were able to watch almost live-time daily update from Sung! Thank you very much for uploading the video and sharing your wiz-words. Highly appreciated.
I just finished listening "Pachinko," https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pachinko_(novel) in Audible yesterday and could not get rid of the idea of Sung performing "Koh Hansu" who is one of the main characters in the novel. According to Wikipedia, that I just found today, Apple obtained the screen rights to the novel. How exciting! I know it's probably too early to find out who takes what role, and I shouldn't be too ahead of everything, but I start praying really hard that Sung gets a role there.
I shouldn't spoil the story for those who plan to read the book or watch the show later, but let me share what I thought about the novel. To be honest, almost all episodes told in this novel were somehow familiar to me because I'm originally from Japan and I have a few friends who are indeed 3rd generation of zainichi Koreans. I've grown up in Japan between 70s' to early 90s' until I came to the states. I've also (unfortunately) witnessed actual brutality of Japanese people several times. So, I can tell, though it is a fiction, everything told in this story is very realistic.
Why I thought of Sung for "Koh Hansu," who is not like how Sung is at all? Sung is 2nd generation of Korean-American while Hansu is first generation of Korean-Japanese from Jeju. There are not many things in common. But in my imagination especially near the last part of the novel, Hansu looks like Sung. There is another strong character in the novel, who is more like Sung, in my opinion. Noa, who is a biological son of Hansu's, has a lot more things in common with Sung. But I still wish to see Sung performing Hansu. (I just realized "Han" maybe a short form of "Hansu.")
It was coincident, but after finishing this audible, I watched "Crazy Rich Asian." It's not related story at all, but to me, it's kind of Asian-American 2.0. While most of Asians I met in person are not as rich as them, I've seen/heard a little bit about those super rich families. And indeed, Singapore and HK are richer than USA and Japan now -- in terms of GDP per capita. Of course, it's hard to make a fair comparison in every aspect, but even among only Asian countries, Japan is not even in top 3 now.
I used to watch this kind of TV dramas in Japan in 80s' -- People whose grand-parents' generation were so poor and had a lot of struggles, but finally reached to the point where the other countries or groups of people who used to look down on them are financially below them. We stopped seeing that type of narrative in Japan because we are now going down instead of going up (again, GPD-wise). Don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to be pessimistic about the country I am from. But it's true that now I understand how people from Western countries used to look at us up until early 90s'. That's probably how majority of Japanese these days look at the rest of Asian countries.
I don't want to sound negative or unfair to anyone here. I just wanted to share my reflection to those works I happened to enjoy during Thanksgiving weekend. After all, this blog is all about me adoring Sung.

I guess I've been pretending like an IT person. Well, I've been in the industry as a full-time worker for past 15 years. But I just realized that does not make me as an IT person because it was until I watch a movie, "Searching," featuring John Cho, that we can reverse search sites by the image file (like jpg or gif) just by dragging and dropping it into Google Search bar. I haven't tried that before. So, I finally tried with one of three photos I have taken with Sung and found 50+ websites use this photo claiming that I'm his girlfriend or wife. I knew there are many random sites spreading unconfirmed rumors. But I didn't know I could be (kind of) a celebrity there. Or people just don't care or simply rely on Google search engine to pick a photo for their unconfirmed stories. Let me share what I'm talking about below:
It doesn't bother me as long as it doesn't bother Sung. At the same time, I'm not sure if I should be proud of myself about this. Well, there is nothing wrong I did but it's not like I should be proud. I guess I just need to keep it neutral. It's not my fault.
Why am I talking about this now? Well, I was hoping to fine a new image or news about Sung by Googling. No luck. But then, I decided to try this new search and found this.
And it's probably also a good time to share my excuse why I haven't updated this blog for a while. It's all my fault. I didn't lose my "heat" toward Sung. But I'm getting older and older. Though I kind of look as young as how Sung looks, we are reaching our 50s' just in a few years. We are old now.
But anyway, me getting old doesn't concern my readers, I suppose. We need to find more info about his next work. I'm still waiting for the invitation to Attend the Premiere in NYC. According to their project site, the last mentioned is that it should be scheduled in 2018. But as you know, it's almost the end of it. That last thing I need to see is that they announce the data that I cannot make it. So, hope they give us a plenty of advance notice. Otherwise, I'll be very very sad to lose my chance to see Sung in person again.

This song was popular around the first year I came to the states back in early 90s'. I really liked this song. And this represents my feeling to Sung very well. Oh wait. No. I've never dated him. lol~
Glad it wasn't that difficult for me to watch the first episode of Magnum PI. Hope he enjoyed his time in Hawaii while on set. Maybe it's time for me to learn Japanese accent.
