Are we all Jackie Chan generation?

http://articles.latimes.com/2012/jun/22/entertainment/la-ca-yomyomf-20120624

So, I tried learning more about other guys on this series and found the one in the first episode is a famous YouTube star. And he is only 22! A very talented young kid!

I smell Jackie Chan movie series from Ryan's work, too because all of the videos I watched today ended with NG takes. That's very Jackie Chan to me. Maybe I just don't watch enough movies to know others, but to me, that's very Jackie Chan. But the last Jackie Chan movie I watched (no offense to him and his production) was in early 90s'. So, I may be wrong that these Asian film/video makers are still under the influence of Jackie Chan movies. I'm not saying it's good or bad. I suppose "easy to understand" is important. And those videos are well done and attractive. No wonder why they are popular. I just felt that there is no Asian male in public viewable videos who are neither Action star or Comedian.

I know Comedy is the toughest. It's not easy to make the audience laugh. So, I'm not saying these categories, Action and Comedy, are less important than other ones. But you know, if they are so anti-stereo-typical Asian Male in mainstream movies, whey do they stick with that?

It is probably a limitation for YouTube type of distribution and audience. They need to make something that their targeted audience would watch. I don't want to make myself sound negative about what they are doing because they are doing excellent and I love them. I just hoped I can see other kinds of Sung (and other young Asian talents) as well.

And I'm just curious.. can Ryan speak Japanese?

Where is my next chance?

I am still waiting for my chance to see the other movies, Knots. It's too bad that I could not extend my stay in LA to see it which screening was scheduled in the following day. :(  But you know, we all have a limited budget and time. I need to wait to my next chance to see his works including some short films that seem to exist, but I just have no idea how to get to see.

So, I went to Saketini, but...

I finally got this special opportunity to visit Saketini in Brentwood, CA, hoping that I can feel some connection to Sung. But! All I found there is that Sung has sold this business to someone else and no longer involved. :(  Oh well. I guess that explains why I do not see the website for the restaurant any more. So, the present I intended to leave there remained in my handback throughout my trip. I guess I just need to send it to his management office later.

Anyway, it's not easy to bump into a movie start even around Hollywood, I suppose. So, I must understand. I was not that disappointed because I kind of expected this. But it was still good to have a lunch there. And it was very good. I was the only customer there dining in the restaurant though I saw several people came to the restaurant to pick up their order that they probably ordered on line.

The waiter was kind enough for me to find out what's up with Sung. According to him, Sung has bought another restaurant in Santa Monica called "Sugerfish." Since I was going to hang out in Santa Monica in that afternoon, I decided to have my dinner there. It's close to my hotel, too. But the funny thing is, the host in Sugerfish said he has no idea what I am talking about. But he said, there are many people who invest to this business and it is possible that Sung maybe one of them. Hmm.. OK. After all, I guess it's not a good manner to try getting connected to an actor like this as a fan. But I thought it's not unusual that some movie stars running restaurant business, and if you are lucky enough, you may encounter your start there. So, I hope what I'm doing does not sound like sick.

Don't worry. I had several other things to do while I was in LA besides chasing Sung's shadow. I had a pretty good time there. I will find another chance to see him in person in the future.

Very attractive characters!

I'm back from LA today! I took a red-eye flight from LAX to DC area. I had to drive my car parked at Long Term parking lot at 7am after a long flight. But I'm not complaining because I had a really good time in LA!

No. I wasn't able to see Sung in person. But that was expected. I was hoping to be lucky enough to see him at this Film Festival showing Sunset Stories. But he was not there. MC told us that he is out of town because he is on set, which is excellent. So, I won't complain.

Anyway, this movie was very very cute. There are many characters involved along with these main two guys. All of them are expressed very vividly. I like the opening and ending cartoon, too! And I really liked how the director used cats and dogs to appear in the corner of the screen.

Congratulations on all the staffs! I think this will be widely distributed later, which makes me proud that I was at the LA premiere! And the theater was even located right on Sunset blvd, making us, the audience, feel very connected to those characters in the screen.

I even could relate myself to the main character because I had a flight to catch out of LAX after the movie. So, I was in a hurry and a little nervous about getting back. And I drove my rent-a-car on Sunset Blvd to get on I-405. Luckily, there was no traffic around 8pm. So, no problem catching the flight.

Anyway, I should save details of this movie, but I can assure all of Sung Kang fans that you won't disappointed though you may jealous. This is a type of the movie you'd want to watch over and over. I can't wait to watch this again.

More tweeting and Instagraming, please!

We hope you are not done with tweeting and instagraming! We haven't seen your new tweet and photo uploading. Well, there was one new photo uploaded, but that was not your photo! I mean, you are not a part of the photo though you may claim it as your photo because you took it. Yes. That's nice of you sharing, but we actually want to see something like this. Please!

Sung = Mac user?

Looks like Sung's machine is either MacBookPro 15 inches or MacBookAir? Good. I'm a Mac user, too! Well, mine is 13 inches MBP that I bought more than 2 years ago... :P
