Running out of stock again...

Anyway, only new info about Sung since last time I updated this blog article is that Sung updated his blog!

Check this out and leave some comments there. :)

Your chance to see Sung in person - Dec 2, 2010

I just found a party that Sung is going to attend. Looks like it is open to anyone with a fee.

Unfortunately, I cannot make it. :( I would come if it is held in East Coast. Oh well,,

You may not be able to talk to Sung in person, but you probably get a chance to take some pictures. The article says: "Besides the awards show, the evening includes a silent auction, red carpet photo opportunities, and cuisine provided by some of LA’s finest dining establishments." $95 for this is not bad because it includes a nice meal as well. If any of you make it, please share photos with me!!!

Wrapping up Fast Fiver in Brazil (?)

I saw Sung uploaded some pix from his mobile phone while he is in Brazil. According to other articles about Fast Five, it seems that the team is there to finish up the remaining pieces down there. Can't wait!!!

(*Note: This pix is not related to Fast Five)

Clap Clap (full version)

The best part of keep updating this blog is getting direct feedback/inputs from my readers! I often get a response to my article if I ask something and many of them are great info!

Sorry! Completly out of stock

I have not updated this blog since a while ago. One big reason is that I have been out of country for a while like second half of September. The other reason is that I don't have any more picture that I have never used here and no new news about Sung... Shame on me. Google alert captures some about him but mostly about someone else wrote about him after watching his old works.

Well, I am still keeping my eyes on whatever about Sung come to my way. So, don't think that I got tired of thinking/writing about Sung.

Today's pic is probably something I've used in the past. But oh well,,,

Other fans = rocks!

My google alert found a blog maintained by other fan who recently met Sung in person. It's really good to see how others talk about Sung and his works. And it was very good to see that someone else do similar thing like I do -- taking screenshots from movies. :D

http://tokyodriftmovie.us/

I should let the blog owner know that I wrote about her site.

BTW, today's pic has nothing to do with Tokyo Drift, but from my old archive.

No new news to share, but enjoy this old picture, anyway

Hi, everyone. Well, I'm not sure who exactly everyone is here. But I see people clicking checkboxes for articles and simple poll I added recently showing participants. Appreciated!

Sorry, I guess I'm not the best sniffer to the movie industry. I don't know much about what's going on with his latest works. But I took a screenshot from one of his old works. Sung was acting an illegal immigrant, asked about a passport and visa.

I guess this is still a common image of Asian in this country though most of people kind of started figuring out Asians as high performer (at least academically). Anyway, I have never been asked about my immigration status from US citizens, but it is the most common question from others who are also non-citizen. I guess people who care about the immigration status most are the ones who are also used to be asked about that. Let me think,, have I ever asked others? I think I have.. but mostly after I was asked about it first. It's not too strange to be asked about it depending on the situation. For example, if you are about to be employed, the employer must ask. But if you are not in the position which is required to be aware of immigration status, then, it is kind of strange to ask. It's like asking how old you are or if you are married, how many kinds, etc. Those may not be too sensitive, but not the best question to ask if it's your first time talking to the person.

Sung the fastest!

I start seeing people writing/posting about Fast Five, but it is hard to confirm which where they were coming from. These days, anyone can make them sound like he or she is from the studio or some sort of insider. But I have no clue. Well, all I can do is being honest about who I am. I'm just a fan. My resource is Internet and some friends who are also very keen about what's new with Sung.

Anyway, I recently found a file sharing site from which I can download Sung's work that I cannot find in iTuens store or Amazon. It sounded very attractive to me, but I just could not tell if it is legit. I don't mind paying, but I don't want to end up with paying to someone who is not related to the work. Hope Sung post legit links from his blog or Web site.

Fast Five on Facebook

http://www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/Fast.Five

According to this poster, Sung is not one of Five here. :(
But I can see him briefly in some of the pictures and behind the scenes videos. :D

Should I go to Hawaii?

I just found about one new short film featuring Sung Kang. It will be shown in Hawaii next week and September. It's not too later for me to plan my trip to Hawaii? BTW, I've never been there.

Waiting, waiting...

I saw his filmography in imdb has been updated with a new movie.

I still haven't seen many of what Sung did. How can I get them all?

Saturday, July 31, 2010

I guess I was lazy...

I start seeing more and more web sites talking about Fast Five and I am very excited! Then, I also tried my basic google search with keyword "Sung Kang" for videos and found a few that I haven't seen before! Let me share here:

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1690879983514215051#

I've seen just a little bit of this before, but not this much. I really like how Sung did this though the type of the role is one of those stereo-typical Asian image...

Sunday, July 18, 2010

Excellent news~~~

Thanks go Monica, I just found Sung will be in Fast 5, the next episode of Fast and Furious series.

I can see him here~~~~

Wow~~~

http://screenrant.com/fast-five-photo-cast-characters-story-robf-68528/

I have to do more research on this. This is all I got so far. Stay tuned or share what you know about this. :) :) :)

Newly cropped old pix

I think I've used an image very similar to this one, but I took a screen shot again with my iPhone while playing FF3 and slightly edited. Look at Sung's hands here! More precisely, fingers. So sexy, aren't they? I like this facial expression here, too. Not smiling, but kind of smiling inside. I really want him to perform this role again and again.

BTW, I was in LAX last week to change my flight back home from Phoenix. I tried my best looking outside of the window from the plane, hoping to locate where Sung's restaurant is. Well, I failed. But I was still happy to feel somewhere down there, Sung spends most of his times these days. I was at the airport only 30 min and could hardly see outside except the runway. But just by imaging this is the airport Sung often flying out and in, gave me a little fuzzy feeling.

How much does he consider himself as a Korean?

If you are not an Asian, it may be difficult to see how much Sung is acting like an authentic Korean or if he can even speak Korean fluently. From what I've seen online, it appears he categorize himself as KoreAm = Korean American. I guess that works for people like him. And from his past works, I can tell he can actually speak Korean pretty well. Even compared to some Korean American kids I know, his Korean-speaking level is not bad. But he does have an English accent and all Korean people from Korea can tell he is not 100% comfortable when speaking in Korean. I think it is just like me speaking in English. Well, maybe not. For me, English is completely my second language. For Sung, Korean is probably not a second language, but first language he spoke in his life. But he just did not have a chance to keep it up while he was grown up in Georgia.

Besides the language skill, how much is he still a Korean? I think his stomach is more than 50% Korean. I don't know what he eats every day. But from what I've seen online and from the fact that he is running a Pan-Pacific restaurant, I think he eats Asian foods more than non-Asian foods. I may be wrong here. But I think his meal comes with a bowl of rice most of the time which is the case for me.

Now, how about non-Asian side of Sung? Hard to say since I don't really know him in person. But I think he does not smoke is a good example of not being a typical Korean. Of course, not 100% of Korean guys are smokers. But the stereotype image of Korean ajussi, which means over middle age male in Korean, is a heavy smoker.

After all, one thing I feel he is really really Korean is, of course, his appearance. He is 100% Korean in his blood wise. His Korean feature is getting stronger as he aged. In some of his pictures I can see online, he is just like any other Korean ajussi. I should call him ajussi next time I see him in person. I can tell he is Korean by looking at his eyebrows and lower jar line. That's how we typically discern Koreans from Chinese or Japanese.

I do have a plan to go to LA next Friday. Well, just as my flight connection place. I won't go outside of LAX. Obviously, I don't get a chance to visit his restaurant this time. :( It's my business trip to Phoenix. I'm connecting my flight at LAX around 8pm on Friday, and I only have a little over an hour there.

One last thought. I wonder which country's team Sung is cheering during this Worldcup. South Korea, USA, or maybe North Korea? :D

Sung on imfdb

http://www.imfdb.org/index.php/Sung_Kang

Check this out. Someone put him in this Wiki for Guns in media. Well, I don't have a membership with rifle associates (:P), but I admit that guns and rifles are fascinating. That's why so many movies and TV shows are made with them. The challenge here is that we just need to know those are not real...

From my old stock...

I don't remember if I used this pix before... I checked my old posts quickly, but did not see this one. Sorry, if this is my 2nd post with this pix.

Anyway, no meaning update again today. Sorry again.

One good news about me is that I may be moving to somewhere near LA. Well, not very soon. But within 3-5 years. Family thing. So, I may have a chance to come to Sung's restaurant and possibly very often! I haven't given up on this idea that having my husband to take Sung's pictures exclusively for this blog! He does take excellent pictures. I've been helping him updating his new Web site. And I just gave him iPad as his birthday present recently.

Regarding something I got from a google alert, I noticed someone opened another facebook page for Sung recently here. I wonder if there is anything "official." and I hope Sung add more of his recent pictures in his account.

Sung is not a true blogging type, I think

I really enjoy reading whatever Sung writes. I like his way of telling his stories. It's also very cool that I feel we live in the same time.

But I feel like he is not truly a blogger. Somehow, my impression is that he is squeezing something he wouldn't if it is not for his friends. I may be totally wrong about that. But unlike other blogger in YOFYOMF, he does not seem to be super happy with what he is doing.

I consider myself as a blogging type. Though nobody ask me to blog, I keep two blogs updating since a while ago. I know I'm not writing anything excellent or useful for other people. It's just all about me. And I know I'm nobody. But I still blog just because I feel like blogging. But I don't think Sung got that. That's just my wild guess.

Any Film Festival to go?

Not sure which Film Festival I can go to see Sung again in person. But hope my google alert capture something for me soon. Well, not too soon. I need a few week prior notice to get approval for my vacation request from my boss. Anyway, it's been 2.5 years since I got to see him in person. :( Isn't it time to find out when I can see him again for me?

OK. Sorry, no new story except that Sung himself is updating his blog at:

http://youoffendmeyouoffendmyfamily.com/method-acting-gone-wrong/

As always, I like his style of telling his story. :)

The picture I use today is from Ninja Assassin. I think he should do a horror movie next time with this kind of face.

I need more pictures!

Do you "Like" this blog?

I am running out of pictures and idea again... But I decided to add "Like" button for facebook users. Hope I can get some idea about who are the people who comes to this site. :)

Happy Birthday to Sung!

Honestly, I'm not into that heated debate. But now I'm sooooo happy that happened because YOMYOMF started making a film like this:

CAR TALK ep1

:D

And Happy Birthday to Sung Kang! Now he is older than me by one year until my birthday comes later this year.

Intersting discussion going on...

If you are a regular here, you may also have seen this already:

http://youoffendmeyouoffendmyfamily.com/why-im-afraid-of-american-women/

Well, I was going to put my comment there, too. But then, I decided to wait until I see all kinds of reactions. As of now, I see 55 comments added, which I think, is the largest ever in his blog. Then, I decided to use my own blog to express what I think.

There is no right or wrong as far as how people take whatever presented to them. I can still wish that people did not take it in such way that made them feel upset. But if they are upset, they are upset. So, we cannot really make any argument to the fact that they are upset itself.

Just like someone who left a comment there pointed out, by giving reaction to something, it tells more about the person who made such reaction, rather than helping us to analyze the article itself. So, that's all about the readers, and we are just learning who they are. No criticism involved here from an observer like me.

Then, I also need to make some comment about what Sung said. I *think* (I know I may be wrong but this is what I think) that I know what Sung was thinking when he wrote it. Why? Because I tend to make a very similar statement and I do have experience of being misunderstood just like that. To avoid any type of conflict, it may be wiser to stay away from making race/ethnicity specific remarks. But honestly, I'm glad Sung did this.

OK. Let me clarify myself. I'm not glad because Sung piss off some of his fans, helping my competition (:P), but I found Sung seems to have had a faith in his fans. I feel he thought people would understand his point, which is probably not for everyone, but better chance among his fans. It turned out Sung was not completely right about it, though.

Anyway, luckily, I'm surrounded by a variety of people every day due to the nature of my work and we often pick each others' ethnicity as a joke. Even between my husband and I, who are from two different countries, we say something stereo typical about each other. We can truly enjoy that kind of thing because we have no doubt that we respect each other from bottom of our hearts as individuals. Only after that, it makes it possible to tease each other based on some characteristics (true or not) about each other.

I know ethnic joke is not for everyone. It could easily go wrong. But it's very very funny if you know how to enjoy them.

OK. Let me share one of my recent experience with my mother-in-law. She and I barely communicate with my broken Korean. But we understand each other pretty well. One day, we were shopping at the grocery store near our place, which is the closet one and the one we go all the time. We used to live one of the safest city in US - very low crime rate and fairly wealthy neighborhood (though we were not one of those wealthy groups). Anyway, when we were loading what we bought in my car, my mother-in-law suddenly started acting strange and looking very nervous. I did not understand what happened. Is she having a heart-attach? I worried. But then, she started holding her purse very tight. She ask me to hurry and get in the car right away and lock the door. OK. No problem. But why? Then, she said, "There was a black guy walking toward us." --- My point here is that for someone like my mother-in-law, who has lived in Korea for over 60 years without having any opportunity of dealing with international or multi-cultural thingy, she had no choice but making assumptions based on limited resources which I have no idea what they were. I tried explaining that the person was a store worker taking care of shopping carts that customers left in the parking lot. But that does not work for her. She was simply scared and I cannot force her not to. Yes. I do wish she knows better for her own sake since she decided to move to USA. It'll be very inconvenient if she cannot get rid of this kind of wrong image. But what can we do?

One more story. Things have been dramatically gotten better in past 10 years thanks to many Korean movies/TV dramas being so popular in Japan, but some of you may know the historical tension between Korea and Japan. Very long "love and hate" history. We have many stereo type images to each other. Typical and famous ones are: "Japanese have bad teeth," "Japanese smells like soy source," etc. Well, I do have bad teeth. I probably smell like soy source. But that doesn't bother me. My husband like them. The end of the story. But if the statement come from someone I don't know well or I don't have a good impression because the person gives some negative attitude toward me because I am a Japanese, then, I wouldn't enjoy such stereo type comments coming from the person. I will probably punch him in his face.

I don't really mind if any other Asian friends of mine ask me about what I think about what Japan did before. I am open for that kind of conversation. But if the same question come from someone who is only interested in seeing any Japanese embarrassed by such topic, then, I don't want to share any of my idea with such person.

For me, Sung is like my best friend. (I know it's my one-way love, but anyway!) It's not because of the roles he did in his movies, but including everything I know about him makes me feel this way. So, even if Sung quotes someone who made fun of my group of people or Sung himself said something, I won't be easily offended by that. Everything comes with its own context. For me, the fact it is Sung who is saying is good enough to make me feel comfortable for most of things unless he changes in the future.

Sung + Gun = Gangstar ... (?)

OK. I have a bit more from my iPhone!

I actually like him wearing golds.

:D

BTW, I found someone made this fake stuff about Sung:

I started seeing more and more inter-race couples these days including this type - Asian guy + non-Asian girl. So, I guess it's not that unusual anymore. And I know there are a lot of Asian and non-Asian girls who are crazy about Sung!

Saturday, March 20, 2010

Which kind of Sung is your favorite?

Ninja Assassin is now available for you to download from iTunes Store!

http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewMovie?id=344462269&s=143441

The role Sung performed is not a cool or sweet type, but I love it! Just like FF4, first 10 min was the best in this movie. Soon, he may be called like "King of first 10 min." :P

Should I be proud?

I just tried looking for something new about Sung by searching internet with keyword, "sungkang," and found my blog appears in the first page of the results! Wow~ I did another search like "blog sung kang," then, this page got listed as 2nd! Hmm....

But please note, I am not an agent or not even in show business. I'm just a fan. So, do not quote on me. This blog is all about what I think and what I want to share. :)

Looking forward to learn more about this work.

Sung is good at using chopsticks

Hope everyone had a nice Valentine's day and Lunar New Year.

I don't have much to share about what's new with Sung except what we can read his blogging. Sounds like he's been jogging very often lately. He also shared how he'd feel after auditioning, etc. So, don't forget to check out his blogging though he said he is not into writing.

http://youoffendmeyouoffendmyfamily.com/author/sung/

Anyway, I added a facebook budget to this site. Sorry, it is not related to Sung, but it is my husband's business. Well, he did took Sung's pictures once. So, he is not totally unrelated to this blog. (In fact, pictures taken by Jun were used in some of my old articles.) So, hope my readers do not mind about me promoting his business like that.

Regarding this pic, I just found it on Sung's fan page in facebook. Yes. Another stole pix.

I like watching him eating something. He looks good with these chopsticks in his hand. :D

BTW, I also added a follower list gudget and edited a template for the article to include socialbookmarking links. Hope this help my readers to keep track on how Sung is doing though there is no guarantee that I'd always know things earlier than my readers would.

Fast 5 (2013?)

I know, I know! It's too early to join this rumor about the next version of Fast and Furious. But it seems to be solid that Justin is directing again! Yey~

Haven't heard about Sung's possible involvement yet. But Sung did a major role in Vin's short clip which we can find as bonus feature of FF4, it's not too optimistic to assume Sung will be in again. Has anyone seen any rumor like this?

Fans from Japan

I just received one new message from someone I don't know. She said she saw me keep posting Sung's pix on a Japanese social networking site. I like being contacted by other fans like that. Though I'm still now sure if this is the right thing -- taking Sung's screenshots from videos and posting them around, it makes me feel worth continuing as long as there are some people who enjoy them.

Sung = Swedish :D

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYbBxEvnDqY&feature=player_embedded

I know Sung does not enjoy acting an Asian role with a strong Asian accent, but I guess he decided to take this because Michael Kang is directing...? Anyway, it's really good to see him in his new work.

Sung on pillow talk (?)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xrAWUc_9O7Q&NR=1

Thanks to tØEy, I found this short clip on YouTube. :)

I also have a link to 2nd episode of Flying Solo. I will write about that later.

Sung looks good in this video. Is it some kind of infomercial?

Flying Solo (2010)

Finally, I can write something meaningful today! My google alert did a good job last week. Look! Sung with blue head band!

http://news.tubefilter.tv/2010/01/20/quick-clicks-jennie-garth-easy-to-assemble-epic-fu-good-knights-quest/

I also found a new short film mentioned in Sung's profile in IMDB:

http://us.imdb.es/title/tt1582391/

I need to figure out how I can get to see it. I miss you, Sung!

Sunday, January 17, 2010

I'd better start thinking about...

I don't have any news again except that Sung updated his blog last week:

http://youoffendmeyouoffendmyfamily.com/asshole-police/

While I enjoy reading it, still no picture of his. So, I went to Flickr again searching image by key word, Sung Kang. And found some old ones like this. I think this one is probably from a few years back.

Anyway, I'd better start planning what to buy for his birthday this year. Yes. It's coming. Well, his birthday is in early April. But I think it's not too early to start thinking about what to buy and what to say in the card.

Year 2010!

Belated Happy New Year to everyone who reads this. Sorry,, I don't have any good stuff here, which is one of the reasons why it took me so long to come back here to update this blog. I have not been busy. Actually, I did not have to do much until I came back to work around the end of 2009. But having extra free time -- no obligation to do anything in particular -- made me end up with getting no accomplishment. I could've been able to update this blog any time. But it became very difficult for me to come back here. Anyway, it does not mean I did not think of Sung. I still think of him very often and enjoy talking with other fans.

Like I said, i don't have any update. My google alert captures several sites, but those are mainly about Ninja Assassin reviews. So, I got no new pix... :( Once Ninja Assassin becomes available for me to download to my iPhone from iTunes store, I will grab a lot of screen prints and use them here.

Meanwhile, we can still check how Sung is doing by reading his blog entries. I kind of want to say many things about what Sung wrote. But not sure if it is appropriate to share here. Especially, when he complained about his the other half like this:

http://youoffendmeyouoffendmyfamily.com/stabbings/

This makes me feel that he is just like my husband. (Not in a positive way). We, girls, do not want to stub our loved ones. But sometimes, we just can't help stubbing! It is very terrible to slam our frustration toward someone else like that and we always regret after we did it. And we hope it won't happen again or promise ourselves not to get there again too soon. But this also indicates that there have been many instances that made us feel frustrated -- not heard or understood reasonably. Not only the incident that seems to be the direct cause of it, but it's an accumulation of such things.

Of coursee, I have no idea about how Sung and his the other half have been doing and what happened between them prior to this stubbing. But I think I'm right about this. It is Sung's fault.
